THE SWORD VOLCANO COMPLEX
August 2004 News and Discography

- Bruce LaFountain is busy putting the finishing touches on tracks for the new album "Cinnamon For The Phoenix" by The Sword Volcano Complex. This very special release will include some of the earliest SVC material ever recorded, as well as some new versions of familiar tracks and, of course, all-new songs. The album will be released through Stateart in Germany (www.stateart.de) as a standard CD, with a collectible and beautiful picture disc 12" companion EP available separately. The cover of the album is being painted by the amazing Val Denham (www.valdenham.com), who remains Bruce LaFountain's favorite painter of all time. Val not only provides the visual counterpart for this project, but he also sings and plays guitar on three tracks, making this an exciting showcase for his many talents. As always, SVC wouldn't be the same without our friend John Murphy (www.knifeladder.com), and he provides much of the ambience and texture for this album. "Cinnamon For The Phoenix" will also be a rare chance for listeners to hear John Murphy sing. The prolific and very talented Karl Blake (www.karlblake.com) has kindly contributed a live spoken word piece to this project, and his voice can also be heard in several other tracks. We have other special guests lined up, but only time will tell who else will appear.

- Also in progress is a full -length album between The Sword Volcano Complex and award-winning author and poet Jeremy Reed. Jeremy has recorded over an hour of his poetry especially for this project, and it will soon come to life again in the shimmering soundscapes of the album, which will be released by Stateart in 2005. Jeremy first worked with The Sword Volcano Complex on the "Phosphorecent" sessions.

- Bruce LaFountain is featured in an article about his work as The Sword Volcano Complex in the latest issue of the German magazine Equinoxe, and he completed a ‘20/20 Interview’ with Stateart to coincide with the release of the "Cinnamon For The Phoenix" album.

- For information and reviews of the most recent SVC album "Phosphorescent", which is released on the USA label Triumvirate, please visit their website: www.citadel-gate.com. They did a fantastic job of promoting The Sword Volcano Complex, and Bruce LaFountain extends his sincerest gratitude and thanks to them.

- And finally, check out Bruce's new tattoo, which was designed especially for him by Val Denham! http://www.valdenham.com/photo/bruce.jpg
